Leading Australian Interior Stylist - Kerrie-Ann Jones

Firstly, who lives here?

My family and I – My husband Andrew and our two children Poppy (seven) and Ari (five).

When you initially walked through this space, how did you know it was the one?

The view of the bay first captured our heart and the fact it’s a mid-century home that is north facing. It ticked all the boxes, and we could see its potential in making it our own.

What interior styles or natural elements inspired this renovation?

While the home is built in the mid-century era I didn’t want to restrict myself by only designing in this style. My interior style doesn't fit in the niche of one style but rather a few blended together, so incorporating these was the basis of style direction. I love a neutral colour palette of warm sandy colours, so this was a staple throughout the home. I also wanted to use interesting stone like Travertine Onyx and Brazilian Quartzite that stayed within the palette but had beautiful veining patterns. I used walnut timber for the joinery to also enhance the warmer tones in the home.

When we walk through the front door, what can we expect to see?

You first walk into the living room where the glass sliding doors roll back to show the view of the bay. It’s pretty special, we feel very lucky to be living here.

What are your top tips for a well-styled home?

Colour - a cohesive colour palette is key. This is what ties all the elements of a room and home together.

Textures - use a mix of textures for interest, but keep within the palette.

Edits - it’s easy to over decorate and sometimes a space can look a little over styled. Edit and curate your space often so you find different ways to display the things that are special to you.

Following on from this, what are your top three items in your home that everyone should own:

Ceramics – you can style them in any room.

Side tables – same as above! Use shapes and styles that can be versatile, for example, a side table next to a sofa, bedside table, or next to your bath. A worthwhile investment piece.

Statement armchair – It can create a beautiful focal point to a room.

Where can we find your MARLOE MARLOE forms?

I love my MM pieces, I have styled them in almost all rooms of my home at some stage! But my favourite spots to style them is on the shelves in my living room, a vase and candle on my bathroom vanity and also on my bedside table too.
