BEHIND THE DESIGN WITH MARLOE MORGAN
As a creator and maker I have a deep affinity with fluidity and connection. I believe our ability to surrender is directly connected to our ability to connect with self and others. Our most recent body of work explores the wider concept of self and the world around us during a moment in history that will truly shape our future generations.
This body of work speaks to our adaptability and deep desire for interpersonal connection through colour & subtle texture as we pursue the beauty in life as we now know it.
I was inspired by the overarching notion of finding beauty in our fractured experiences and visible disconnect. A collective pull to experience beauty & connection in the world around us, all the while exploring the inner light & dark that tells a story of the space between yesterday & today.

Our first capsule within this collection welcomes a family of flowing vessels showcasing fluid & considered silhouettes with a fractured gloss glaze that lies against a cool blue ribbon to the base of the forms.
My intention through this colour play was to bring about a calm & grounding atmosphere while highlighting the beauty in the fractures caused by extreme pressure.
The surface of this incredible glaze is covered with millions of tiny fractures that take place on the outside of the form. This glaze, otherwise known as a crackle glaze, is caused by a thermal expansion mismatch between body and glaze. The layer of glass begins to tighten around the vessel and begins to shatter into millions of tiny pieces.
It is my hope that this subtle yet considered glaze texture would bring about a feeling of gratitude for the present and hope for our collective future.
